First English lesson of this year

I attended the first English class of this year.
The topic the teacher gave me was "major incidents of last year".
I thought of three incidents.

First, the change of the prime minister.
Ex-Prime Minister Abe suddenly resigned his position just after the LDP lost the election of the House of Councilors. The new Prime Ministor Fukuda has been struggling to cope with the congress because it became really difficult to pass laws in the House of Councilors where the members from the opposite party are more than the members of the government party.

Secondly, the renewal of the educational law.
I am working for a university, so it is a big issue for me. By this renewal of the law, govermental control on education is expected to be more strict. I am afraid it will cause bad effects.

Thirdly, many scandals about the intentional false information by food companies.

While talking about those issues, I acknowledged that we couldn't see a bright future last year. I hope this year will be a good year!
